Capital controls do not affect non-Greek debit and credit cards

29/6/2015
Erasmus wishes to address any concerns stemming from the current financial situation in Greece. Greek banks will remain closed and capital controls are in place as of Monday, June 29th, 2015. However, capital controls do not affect holders of non-Greek debit and credit cards, who may continue using their bank cards for transactions as normally. It may be advisable for foreign visitors, to have more cash in hand than they normally would, to cover emergencies or unexpected delays.

Capital controls are imposed to the transactions of Greek cash or credit card holders only. Everything else, including local commuting and international travel, runs smoothly in Athens and all over the country and the Greek hospitality sector people are here, concerned but at the same time hospitable as ever and committed to making your stay in Greece a pleasant experience.
